Kim ColsonKim has been an active member of Mount Carmel for most of her adult life. She creates shawls for the Prayer Shawl Ministry, is an active member of the Handbell Choir and also attends and enjoys the women’s retreat almost every year.

Outside of work, she loves to spend time with her nieces and nephews, listen to music, make chainmaille jewelry and watch romantic comedies.

Jaime Larson-McLoone
Director of Ministry Development and Communications

Jaime Larson-McLoone Jaime has been a member of Mount Carmel since fall of 2011. Before that, she was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cary, North Carolina.

She is a newspaper journalist by training (educated here in Wisconsin!), with more than a decade of experience as a reporter and editor. She and her husband are originally from Minnesota and returned to the Midwest in 2011 to be closer to their families. They have one cat, Kenly, and live in Wauwatosa.

For Jaime, this position is a dream job. Ever since a good friend helped her discern her gifts and encouraged her to use them more boldly, she has been passionate about doing the same for others.

Jaime’s primary goals as Director of Ministry Development and Communications are:

  • To clearly communicate the ways people at Mount Carmel are living out our vision statement by acting with love, inspiring hope, valuing others and caring for the world.
  • To connect people here with opportunities that help them use their God-given gifts and talents in carrying out that vision.

Pat Pfahler
Child and Family Minister

Pat Pfahler Pat Pfahler was called to join our staff August 2013 as the Child and Family Coordinator.

She began teaching Sunday School at the age of 15 years old. She has taught many grade levels through the years. She has been the Superintendent of Sunday School, written Sunday lessons, has coordinated a Milestone program, coordinated the nursery and served as the Child and Family minister at Ascension Lutheran church in Waukesha.

She received her certification in Youth and Family Ministry in the ELCA from Wartburg Theological Seminary.

Pat is a registered nurse at Froedtert Hospital, where she is the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Coordinator. She is a mother of 4 grown children and a grandmother 4 grandchildren, with number 5 due to arrive in December 2013.

“My passion is to share with students and families tools to have Christ be the cornerstone of their life,” Pat says.

Dani Ovanin
Youth Ministry Coordinator

Dani has been a member of Mount Carmel since 2001. Before being called to serve as youth ministry coordinator at Mount Carmel, she was an advisor for the high school youth league. Dani has previously worked for the Wauwatosa School District as a playground supervisor, clerical and special education substitute, and most recently as a lunch hostess.

Dani is married to Jim, a registered nurse, and has two grown sons, Zach and Dylan.

Paul Kasten
Director of Music & Liturgy

Paul Kasten has been organist and director of the Handbell Choir at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church since September 2001. Prior to that, he was Director of Music at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church of Greendale for 20 years. Paul has been organist/accompanist at Congregation Shalom in Fox Point for 18 years, and is also a traveling music instructor for the Milwaukee Public Schools, where he teaches over 200 piano students. His organ teachers include Roberta Bitgood and Charles Ore.

Paul is a former Dean and Treasurer of the Milwaukee Chapter AGO. In 1988, he co-chaired the chapter’s acclaimed English Romantic Organ Music Festival, co-sponsored with UW-Milwaukee. Between 1986 and 1991, Paul co-chaired the Miller Organ Concert Series at Milwaukee’s Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Since 1995, he has been a board member and Vice President of the Chicago Lyric Opera’s LightHouse (Southeast Wisconsin) Chapter. National Music Publishers publish his handbell music. He has also served on the board of the Washington Heights Neighborhood Association. Paul shares his home with James Burmeister, two dachshunds, two parrots and a rabbit.

Wendy Traeger
Adult Choir Director

Wendy has been a longtime member of Mount Carmel Lutheran Church. She began her tenure as the Director of Adult Choirs in 2005. Wendy teaches at Wauwatosa East and Longfellow Middle Schools in Wauwatosa. She was the Director of Music and Choirs at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School and Sussex Hamilton High School. Along with directing the choirs at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church, Wendy is the director of the Adult Volunteer Choir at Congregation Shalom in Fox Point.

She has been dedicated to performing and teaching for over 25 years. Church music has always held a special place in her life. Continuing to sing and conducting the choirs at Mount Carmel keep her actively involved in music and worship, providing quality service music for the congregation.

Wendy earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance in 1984 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership-Principal Licensure from Marian College in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Wendy is married to Paul, and they have two children, Steven and Maria.

Harold Beidinger

Harold joined Mount Carmel in July of 2006 and was baptized at Mount Carmel by Pastor Sandy Jacobs & Pastor Rachel Young Binter on July 23rd, 2006. He joined the staff in February of 2008, serving as custodian at Grace Place from 2008-09 and as custodian at Mount Carmel since October 2010. Harold is in charge of cleaning the entire facility, as well as set-ups and take-downs for weddings, funerals and special events.

Harold also taught Sunday School for several years. His other interests include working out, music and baseball.
