Prayer Ministry
At Mount Carmel we understand prayer to be central to the Christian life—drawing
us into a closer relationship with God, one another, and the world around
us.
Mount Carmel supports the prayer life of its people in two primary ways:
Each week Mount Carmel puts together a list of prayer requests. These
requests are given to the pastors or church office by people
in the congregation and friends of Mount Carmel. Members of Mount Carmel
receive these prayer requests either by email or by picking up a copy
on Sunday morning. They then faithfully pray for the people or situations
listed. This prayer ministry has been a sustaining force in the life of
many people and has become a powerful part of the weekly ministry of our
congregation. Your prayer requests are always welcome!
In addition, each Wednesday morning at 9:30-10:30 a small group meets
to pray together on the Stage Lounge. The prayer gathering begins by praying for people on the
Mount Carmel prayer ministry. The group then continues to pray either
out loud or silently the prayers of their hearts. The gathering closes with
the Lord’s Prayer. Anyone is welcome to come to this prayer gathering
at any time. It is truly a time set apart to remember that God is with
us and to feel the comfort of God’s presence in all that we experience
as God’s people.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Do you like to knit or crochet (or would you like to learn?) Do you have the desire to minister to others throught prayer and action? If so, you may be inerested in a new caring minstry that began in the fall of '06, the Prayer Shawl Ministry. As soft, warm prayer shawls are knit or crocheted for someone, each stitch represents a prayer for that person. The recipient will feel those prayers wrapped around them every time they use this handmade gift of love and care. Over 75 shawls have already been given as a sign of love and care.
The group will gather on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. on the stage lounge. If you would like to create a shawl, request a shawl for someone, or have any other questions, please contact Jan Colson or Diane Roznowski.
